Goede akoestiek is natuurlijk op meerdere vlakken van essentieel belang. Je kent het vast wel, wanneer je in een lege ruimte staat en je praat, dat alles nagalmt. Niet heel prettig natuurlijk wanneer je een goed gesprek wilt kunnen voeren. Naast het feit dat dit onder andere belangrijk is voor op de werkvloer, geldt dit natuurlijk ook voor concertzalen, bioscopen en tal van andere ruimtes. Wanneer de akoestiek op werk niet in orde is, dan zul je al snel merken dat het een onwerkbare situatie wordt. Helemaal wanneer je met meerdere mensen op één kantoor zit en je elkaar enkele seconden lang na hoort galmen. Om je een idee te geven hoe belangrijk een goede akoestiek is, hebben we een aantal zaken voor je op een rijtje gezet.

Verbetering van de communicatie

Op het moment dat je in een ruimte bent met meerdere mensen, maar zonder de aanwezigheid van bijvoorbeeld meubels, dan is de kans vrij groot dat de geluidsgolven die jullie produceren veel langer dan gewenst door de ruimte dwalen. Dit heeft als vervelende effect dat je een enorme echo hoort. Nu is dit niet zo heel erg wanneer jij en je collega’s het grootste deel van de dag weinig tot niet praten, maar in een normale situatie is dit natuurlijk niet het geval. Door te kiezen voor bijvoorbeeld speciale geluidsabsorberende objecten, zul je merken dat het een stuk prettiger is. Helemaal wanneer je met elkaar aan het praten bent, maar ook wanneer je met iemand aan de telefoon zit.

Vermindering van de geluidsvervuiling

Wanneer een ruimte een slechte akoestiek heeft, dan hoor je ieder klein geluidje als een enorme stoorzender. Je kunt je dus wel voorstellen wat er gebeurt op het moment dat je bijvoorbeeld op een leeg kantoor met alleen een bureau en een stoel, een pen laat vallen. Normaal zal dit niet echt opvallen, maar in een ruimte met een slechte akoestiek komt dit natuurlijk vele malen harder over. Des te belangrijker dus om al deze geluidsvervuiling zoals ze ook wel worden genoemd, waar mogelijk te elimineren. Dit kun je vaak relatief eenvoudig doen, door te kiezen voor een aantal geluidsabsorberende objecten in de ruimte.
